Holy Father, I give you thanks
Because in your plan of salvation
You have called me to the vocation of marriage
You have joined my life to that of my companion
So that one union could become a visible sign
Of the union between Christ and His Church
We were separated
Perhaps, at least partially, because of my own weakness
Yet I believe that Christ’s love for His Church
Remains faithful and lasting
Not with standing the sins of mankind
I believe that You have the power to renew
That which has become old
I ask You, therefore, to forgive my sins,
To mend that which we have attempted to break,
To reconstruct that what sin has destroyed
And, to renew, through the Holy Spirit’s grace
My love for s/he whom you have given me
As my inseparable companion
And as a symbol of your presence.
